Hi:

Are there sources of worldwide coverage high resolution terrain data,
higher than DTED level 2 (30 m post spacings)? If so, can you point
them out?

No. There isn't world-wide mapping at that horizontal accuracy, never
mind elevations! It is only since SRTM that we have had partial
coverage at 30m (Antarctica isn't covered, and that's about twice the
size of Australia!). Then there are sea-bed data...
