Is there a way to set permissions on a folder so that it will only be seen
if the user has access to it? Currently it displays the folder, but gives an
access denied if someone tries to click on it. Is it possible to not even
display things that the users don't have access to? I know this can done on
Novell, but can't figure out how to set it in Windows.

Many thanks in advance.

You can't really do this on regular file system files, but you can do it
on shared resources using Access Based Enumeration

Thanks for the info. It appears this only works on Shared Folders. How can
you prevent using ServerName\DriveLetter$ in explorer to see folders?

Many thanks again.

If your users are able to connect to \Server\DriveLetter$ then they
are Administrators on those servers and you've got bigger problems than
needing to hide shares. The $ shares are administrative shares and only
Administrators have access to those shares. If they've got
administrative access to the servers it really doesn't matter what you
try to do with regards to hiding folders, administrators will be able
to overcome anything you may attempt.

Thanks, for the info.

Everyone is a user, I was testing it with the Admin account and didn't
realize users don't see them. When it was tried from a user account they
were gone.

Thanks again
