When I hibernate my Toshiba Tecra A1, it wakes up from hibernation
when lift the lid. How can this resumption be prevented? I want the
laptop to wake up only when the power key is pressed. Thanks.

I don't know if this will work, but it worth a shot. Go to the Power Options
in the Control Panel and under the Advanced tab, tell it to do nothing when
you close the lid.

That would certainly prevent it from waking up when I open the lid,
because it would not go into hibernation when I close the lid.
However, I want hibernation when the lid is closed. It is only when
it is open that I do not want a resumption from hibernation.
Resumption would ideally occur upon hitting the power key.

Some laptops operate the way you want and some don't. I believe my Asus EEE
PCs doesn't wake up when I lift the lid and I have to hit the power button
to wake them up. My Gateways, I don't remember if they work like yours or
not. It has been so long since I closed the lid on them.
