Hello,
While trying to learn a bit on my own, I changed a few settings
under My Computer->Manage->Services and Applications->Services. Now
the problem I face is that I fail to connect to the internet through
my ADSL modem (Wan Miniport PPPOE), which denies access while
verifying the username and password. Additionally, I have noted that
when I open my Default Gateway location for ADSL modem 192.168.1.1, it
says "Warning: This server is requesting that your username and
password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a
secure connection)." but lets me through to the configuration page
after I enter the username and password. Can someone please bring me
out of this misery I've caused upeon myself? What settings in the
Computer Management have caused this? How can I get them reverted?

-wally (frustrated)

Contact your ISP to reset Internet connection password - I think your issue
isn't caused by Windows but has something to do with, well, wrong password.
The warning is just a warning - you can ignore it; not many ISPs support
secure authentication.

What is the operating system ?

Which services did you set to disabled?

What is the current state of the HTTP SSL service, if you have it?
