>From the day I setup my Smartphone (last week basically) until
yesterday, I was synching with my PC over AS via BT. Today, I decided
to bring my USB cable so I can charge it also at work. Then, that's
where the problem started.
After plugging my phone to charge, of course it automatically initiated
AS. I was taken a back cause I never intended to sync over USB.
Anyway, after that, I unplug my i-Mate SP3i and try AS over BT. Much
to my dismay, this doesn't work anymore. I tried it a number of times,
somethimes power OFF in between, but that didn't helped.
Things I did that might help people solve this weird problem:
+ after those many futile attempts, I deleted the pairing on both my PC
and my sp3i and restablish pair... didn't help
+ did the same thing above, and stablish pair from the PC instead of
the phone... didn't help also
+ went to SP's (smartphone's) AS->Option->Advanced and couldn't find
`Bluetooth there anymore (I swear I saw that there before). Only the
serial bauds + `USB is existing (hopefully somebody can tell me how to
bring it back even if I have to manually edit some file/registry)
+ after doing other combinations of above, I went and "hard reset" the
phone which completely wiped off my data. I tried the same routine I
did before to first setup my phone... never worked. `Bluetooth is
still unavailable.
ALSO:
+ tried suggestions over at geekzone.co.nz
+ tried suggestions from google results
+ tried suggestions from this newsgroup
At this point, I am just connected via USB over AS. Not my ideal
setup. I'd like how I set it up before... AS over BT then roam around
my office with phone secured on it's case over my belt. I don't feel
it safe for my phone to stay in my cube since things gets lost at our
office.
Please, if you have any idea how to restore it back, let me know.
Hopefully this is not an isolated case.
Thanks in advance...
John

Just to let you guys know... I was able to fix the problem.
In the end, I ended up with another hardware reset AND reinstalling the
Widcomm/BT driver from my PC which fixed the whole thing.
I never doubted before that my Widcomm driver would be at fault because
1) I can pair up my phone with my PC after deleting the previous pair
and 2) I was able to establish a serial port connection from my PC to
my phone during that debug process.
Anyway, I should have done the reinstall yesterday but didn't have my
install CD with me. Hopefully, this will help other people to look at
that different perspective also (don't just blame the phone) when they
encounter the same scenarios. BT anyway has a lot of different
services... there's a high possibility that 1 service maybe working and
the other one doesn't.
