Please log in for more thread options It seems that after 2 weeks of futile fiddling with drivers I found the real
culprit: LogMeIn (free remote control software), which I was trying to use as
a replacement for 3 devices:
1) the MCE remote
2) wireless mouse
3) wireless keyboard
My intent was to use my little XP based laptop to control everything on my
Vista based Media Center computer with LogMeIn Free. The concept almost
worked, one device instead of 3. It worked for a few hours but then LogMeIn
eventually messed up the video drivers in Vista. MCE stopped working for TV
and all videos giving me the error mesage that I now loathe:
"Video Error
Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly.
Please restart Windows Media Center or restart the computer."
I removed LogMeIn and MCE is working again.
Conclusion: LogMeIn and Vista MCE do not work together
