I recently used ESRI GIS to create a map layer for the country of Costa

Rica. The most time consuming part of this process was playing with
the resolution and zoom in GIS to get the tiles to line up properly
when I used the tilecutter because I lined up every level by eye and
had to due a lot of calculations by hand to get the zoom level just
right. At the deeper levels of zoom it became nearly impossible to to
this perfectly, although I think part of that may be due to distortion
in coordinate systems from curvature of the earth.

Has anybody found a way within GIS to transform your map to the google
map coordinate system? By clicking on three points and assigning them
values within GIS it should be possible to size and zoom the map image
just right every time for the tilecutter tool. Doing this would make
it pretty easy to provide road data in google maps for the smaller
countries that are not fortunate enough to have it yet because of
Navtech's steep pricing.

If anybody who knows GIS better than I do wants to help with this I'd
appreciate it! My next project is to take some data I've got on
deforestation in Costa Rica and see what it looks like compare to the
satellite images.

Hello,
Do you need KML format ?
If I good understand, you need conversion from another data format
to Google Map KML format?

If its right, please visit our website:

Our Editor can make conversion to KML file format.
