My windows XP media ( HP Pavillion a1250n ) suddenly won't recognize my
camera card readers, my flatbed scanner or my Lightscribe dvd burner. I'm so
frustrated. I have tried updating the driver, reinstalling, unplugging,
reinstalling, etc. Can anyone help me? I would appreciate any advice.

Have you tried a system restore back to a point when they were working?

No, because I am afraid of losing all my data. Do I need to back up
everything on my computer before I try this? Also, I understand that this
will only work for a time 90 days previous. It might help with the scanner
problem, but the card readers and dvd burner haven't been work for a good six
months.

System restore does not back up or over write data such as documents or
photos, it deals with system files only.

OK...Thanks! I'll give it a try. What does "Driver Genius" and
"Driverdownload.net" do?
Do these programs actually fix drivers?
