Can I retrieve or backup from my AT&T 8525?
My hard drive crashed and I had to start over with new one. Activesync had
to setup new relationship and now I cannot figure out if I can retrieve old
outlook files?

When I change outlook mobile settigns for new relationship, it needs to wipe
e-mails I am trying to retrieve?

Hi,

There has been a design change from WM5.0 onwards which clears the mails
from the device before setting up a new partnership therefore it isn't
possible to recover mails. With older devices, you could use Intellisync to
recover them using the export option. Refer -
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/raj/Inbox.html

There is another user who posted the same question a few days back. Search
for "Reverse Sync" as Subject. I am exploring options if this can be
recovered in some way but have not been successful in my attempts so far.
Will keep you posted.

Thanks,
Is there any way to store them in a file or means to export for archive
purposes? I understand there is no way to restore them to outlook but wanted
to save some version if possible - Word, Works, etc. I currently have over
400 e-mails in my inbox on my phone and need to restablish my outlook mobile.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Take a look at PIM Backup -
http://www.freewareppc.com/database/pimbackup.shtml It does a neat job of
backing up PIM data. In your case you can use it to backup the e-mails.
Once done, you can proceed to recreate the partnership which will clear the
e-mails from the device. If you require to view your backup archive, you
can always restore it. The only problem here is that you won't be able to
sync back to Outlook.

Tip: Before you perform a backup, if you have a sub folder on the device,
move all the mails that you wish to save in there. If you don't have one,
don't bother, you will not be able to create one on the device. It comes
from the PC folder structure. Then avoid using the folder with the same
name for your new sync. This way when you restore, it will all be restored
to that particular folder only so it would be easier for you to keep track
of the archived information on the device rather then getting it mixed with
the synchronized set of mails.
