The ultimate non-WYSIWYG editor is, of course, Wordpad. Using it,
however, requires that you actually know HTML, CSS, etc.

Have you looked at Nvu at <http://www.nvu.com/>? It has both WYSIWYG
and non-WYSIWYG capabilities. It's freeware.

FYI there are much better plain text editors out there, with features
like syntax highlighting, extended search/replace, macros, etc. Wordpad
might be OK in a pinch, but I think it would be painful to use more than
that. You're not a masochist, are you? :)

You can be more productive with a better editor. Many are free, too,
like Crimson Editor.

That's true for any plain text editor.

You mean there is no emacs elisp module for HTML writing....? : }

kompozer is the bugfix release of Nvu but runs on fewer platforms.
FWIW Seamonkey pretty much has Nvu built in.
yes there is a non-WYSIWYG tab for both but what you write may be
"corrected"
the instant you leave that tab to review what youve written.. : /
But you can "tidy" up once you are done

Yes, there is, and the version in emacs 22.1 is greatly improved
over older versions.
