HTC P4000 Bluetooth problem Robin in Calgary 08-13-2007

I've just recently upgraded my HTC P4000 to WM6.

I have a repeatable problem I have not seen reported anywhere yet.

1) Connect bluetooth headset. (I have a connection in my car and an HP. The
problem exists with both)
2) Powerdown the HTC (It goes to sleep to save power or power it off
manually)
3) Shutdown the headset (I leave the car or shutdown the HP headset)
4) Try to restart the HTC. Nothing... It seems the only solution is to
reboot the device.

If I make sure the phone is awake before the headset disconnects then
everything seems to be ok.

This only started happening with the WM6 upgrade. It worked just fine in
WM5.

Does anyone have any suggestions or workarounds?

Thanks in advance,
Robin in Calgary

Much as this is a Smartphone-only newsgroup (you may want to respost your q
to microsoft.public.pocketpc), I answer.

It seems the official WM6 upgrade is plaqued by the same BT bug as the
Sprint Mogul (the Sprint version of the P4000). If yours is a Sprint-branded
device, then, it seems there's (still) no fix for this problem. See for
example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317885 and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322951 for more info on the
problem.

Note that the WM6 upgrade also has problems with DirectDraw; see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320292

My bluetooth earpiece doesn't work at all, now that I've upgraded to
WM6. I had to call T-Mobile and she couldn't figure it out -- the
password didn't work. That problem seemed to be getting the device to
know you wanted numerals. Once I figured out that if you press ALT
ALT then the numbers, it goes through correctly. Now it says it
recognizes the device, but I can't use the earpiece at all. Here goes
another support call. Glad I'm not with Sprint or they might cancel
me. ;-)

Thank you both for your information.

It seems I'll just have to wait for a fix.

I have a similar problem with my brand new Bell (HTC) 6800 which runs WM6. If
bluetooth is on, after awhile the system goes to sleep and the only solution is
to reboot. And also when the headset is connected and system goes to powersave
mode many times system did not come back by pressing the power key. I had to
reboot the device. Now I do not switch-on the bluetooth, then the system is fine.
