hello,

i recently had to do fresh install of xp pro sp2 on my nx7300 laptop.
since i have reinstalled the os, every time i close my laptop lid, it
only turns off the screen and does not hibernate or standby. in the
power options, advanced, when i close the lid of my portable computer,
my only options is "do nothing" there is no option to hibernate or
standby. i ran all win updates and installed the hp quick launch
buttons and touchpad. there are no device issues in device manager.

can someone let me know how to get the options to "hibernate or
standby" when i close my LT lid?

thanks

Got a Hibernation tab after the Advanced one? If so, go there and enable
Hibernation. If it isn't there, sounds like you are missing a driver.

nope, no hibernation tab.

if i am missing a driver, which one would it be? i created a driver
magic install package before the format and ran that after i
reinstalled xp. so, i'm not sure which driver i would need to update.

I don't know, a chipset driver would be my guess for the motherboard.
But I wouldn't experiment without knowing for sure unless you are
willing to screw everything up with the wrong one and start all over
again.

One place I would ask is in the microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
newsgroup. In fact, I'm adding that one to this post and wait and see
what those pros says.
