Hello.

Does anyone know how many bands are in the HP iPAQ 6515?
I think there are 4: if so, does it switch automatically to the good one?

Cheers,

Steffo

There really isn't a "good one." For starters, two of the bands are
for the Americas, and the other two are for Europe, Asia, Africa, etc.

Generally, then, your phone is only using two bands at any one time,
an will select a band based on what band your provider, or it's
roaming provider uses.

For example, here in the USA, I use T-Mobile, who is at 1900MHz. The
competiting GSM operator, AT&T, uses 850MHz. Even if 850 is the
"better band" where I am located, I can only get service at 1900! ;-)

Unless you travel to the Americas (or from them, if you're from the
Americas) the "extra" two bands in your phone will never be used.

Hi Todd, good morning.

I'm traveling to the States in about a month and I'd like to know how to
make my phone to use the local bands.
I've searched in the menu looking for that setup, but I couldn't find it.
In the past I had a Motorola v600 and there was an option to "change band"
manually: I'm wondering if the HP iPAQ 6515 has that too and I couldn't find
it, or it will change automatically when I land in the US.
Please let me know if you or anyone else in the group have experienced
traveling to "the other bands" and how to perform the change to the phone.
Also, what is the code you dial when calling a European number from the US?

Thanks for all you help and best regards,

Steffo

It's not there- you don't need to do anything. Get off the plane,
turn on the HP, and it'll "sniff the air" and register on whatever
available network your home operator allows it roam on.

It's all automatic.

Just use the "+" and Country code like you would anywhere else.

Enjoy the trip and watch out for those roaming charges! ;-)
