AFAIK, the "smartdialing" softwre is manufacturer-specific, so it isn't
surprising it functions differently on different devices.

My guess is that it uses the "file as" field as it's source. In some
devices I've used, it would ignore company names IF the same contact also
have a first name/last name. I.e. "John Smith" of "ABC Corporation" would
display in the smart dial if I keyed "Joh..." or "Smi...", but never if I
keyed "ABC" UNLESS I had "ABC Corp." as a separate contact.
I suspect that's your workaround- create separate contacts for those who
have both name and company name fields.
