I bought a very expensive HD camcorder and it looks great on my t.v but it
looks bad on my computer. And apparently the problem is that the HD video is
being compressed how do I decompress the video files or transfer them without
compressing them without an HDMI port on my computer? Because this HD
camcorder is worthless if I can't store the video in HD. My computer has
1080i resolution.

Does your camera have Firewire port? Most people use firewire to transfer
video from the camera to the PC. The firewire interface should offer the
highest quaity video transfer to the PC.

You need to provide more info if you want some help.

Are we to assume you are using Media Center (if so, what version)?

How are you connecting the camera to the PC to transfer them?

What are you using to view them that they look bad - editing software, a
media player, etc.?

Yes I am using media center I bought this computer in 2007, it is a Toshiba
Qosmio with HD capabilities. I am transferring them directly from the
camcorder to the p.c. I use windows media center or windows media player. The
camcorder is a Sony HDR-HC5

Is your transfer through an analog input? That won't get you a high quality
video.
