My Media center is connected to my office computer via 100mbit lan.

I would like for it to be able to download the guide via internet connection
sharing (dialup) using the modem in my office computer. The problem is, if I
share my connection, the connection seems to be split equally between the two
computers and web browsing is extremely slow on the office computer.

What I was wondering is there a way to set up a user under xp on the office
computer that has ics enabled (basically to be used when computer is in
standby so media center can use ics) and other user that does not have ICS
enabled (for normal use of internet connection on the office computer.

This seems to be a real mess since under ICS the media center pc gets its IP
from the office computer automatically and if ICS is not enabled it would
have a static IP.

Besides the obvious solution of getting a cable modem, any help would be
appreciated.

I would buy a second modem for the MCE machine. Let it do its updates in
the middle of the night when you're not in the office.

Or get a cable modem :)

ICS is either on, or off. Its a machine wide state, not per user. See =
http://www.thegreenbutton.com/downloads.aspx and download Guide Time. =
This utility will allow you to set the time that the Guide downloads, so =
you can set it for a time that you're normally not using the other =
computer.
