Hello,

I have a 40 user network that most users use a custom made application;
Access 2003 front end with a SQL 2000 Database back end. Problem I have is;
All 25 terminal users that use the application have to be in the server
operators group to use the Access 2003 application's " export to excel "
function. How can I tighten down security when I set the terminal users up
in Windows 2003 active directory.

Thank you in advance.

I would start with the assumption that "Export to Excel" in Access
2003 requires Server Operator permissions. I am reading this to mean,
in Access, File > Export, File Type: Microsoft Excel 97-2003 (*.xls).
I have setup Windows 2003 Terminal Servers that provide this
functionality with no more than Remote Desktop Users permissions. Try
removing a user from Server Operators and running the export. Does it
work? If not, what error message is displayed?

Yes , I thought I need to try just remote users and try not to use the
server operators group and when I export Access 2003 ro Excel it does
nothing, no messages.

and nothing recorded in the Application event log ?

This sounds like a problem with how Access and/or the Excel
converter part is installed, or permissions on those or areas
used in the convert and save process.
