Force desktop icons using Group Policy? jonnythan 12-22-2005

I want users to have the new Start Menu (or at least the option of
using the new start menu), but I also wish to force various icons (My
Computer, My Documents, Internet Explorer) onto the desktops for help
desk purposes.

Looking in the Group Policy Editor, I only see ways to force them OFF
the desktop. Is there a way to force them ON without resorting to
forcing the classic start menu?

(Sorry for the crossposting, I'm hoping to get a reply quickly)

Thanks.

You canīt handle it via GPO. Scripting is a solution.

Take a look at DesktopStandard PolicyMaker. This enhances your
your GPO and Policymaker can manage links and files with an own
client side extension
