Firewall Settings when Joing a Domain Chris Edwards 06-24-2008

Hello!

We have several windows 2003 servers that we are trying to join to a domain
controller but we do not want to change or reset their current firewall
settings. When we join a windows 2003 server to the domain the firewall
rules are reset.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris Edwards

Hello Chris,

Have a look here for opening ports on DC:

Thanks for trying to help. But that is not the problem. The problem is
that when I join a server to the domain it resets the server's firewall
rules. I need it to keep the firewall settings exactly the same as I did
before I joined the domain. Otherwise I have to re-setup every exception on
every sever as I join them to the domain.

Thanks!

Seems a very simple problem to me, if you know you're going to joining the
server to the domain, don't setup firewall policies until after you've
joined the domain.

I thought so also, but I have no firewall policies on the domain
controllers. The domain controllers have been freshly installed with no
custom policies.

Thanks,
