Can I develop an Add-in (Or can Microsoft add the feature ) which enable file
name search on different storage areas defined by the user inside Windows
Desktop Search ?
In other words, Can the user enable file name search on the entire local
disk without using the Search Companion ?

Interesting question. I'm not sure of the answer, but perhaps one of the
developers will pop in and let you know if you can do this.

When searching using Desktop Search try typing in the following:

File:<filename>
i.e. File:Test.txt

This should cause the search engine to look at the file name. This should
work for any fine in the areas you have selected to index.
Such as My Folders etc.

also you may want to see the following site for more information on advanced
syntax:
http://search.msn.com/docs/toolbar.aspx?t=MSNTbar_PROC_CompleteSearchSyntax.htm

Hope this helps!
