When installing the Xbox Extender software on my computer it stops processing
when trying to stop the MCRD Service.

I am running a HP Media Center that came installed with 2005 (computer is
less than 2 weeks old).

I don’t have the file MCRDSVC.exe in my Windows/ehome directory. I noticed
on my install cd that it looks like it has the setup for MCRD Service but it
won’t let me run it in stand alone mode. It says that I have to run it from
Media Center Extender Manager (or something like that). I can’t find this
program on my computer (I thought that is what I was trying to install). I
tried copying the files from the cd to my ehome directory but don’t know how
to register a service.

I would be VERY appreciative of any help. I am at my wits end.

This is the last line in my install log…

3:21:58 AM : Stopping MCRD service.

It doesn’t give me an error just sits here and does nothing.

Thanks
Michael W

Try this:
1) Reboot your PC
2) Manually stop mcrdsvc - open a command prompt (Start --> "cmd" -->
<enter>) and type "net stop mcrdsvc" <enter>; do you get an error? If so,
what does it say?
