Exchange push over GPRS with LT2P VPN problem... Merlin 11-01-2007

Hi. I have a problem with Activesync/VPN on my HTC x7500 (WM6)

Ihave setup the device to create a GPRS/3g connection and then use an LT2P
VPN across the connection to the corporate LAN.

This is working fine and web browsing and exchange push both work fine.

The problem I have is that if I turn off the device or it goes into sleep
mode, if the VPN connection is established and ActiveSync is running (which
it always is for the push email) then the device will not wake up again if I
press the power button. The only way I can get it to work is a soft reset.

I have tried connecting to exchange push over the internet without the VPN,
and this works fine and the devices sleeps and wakes up - it only
crashes/freezes when the device has the VPN session established.
Unfortunately, apart from the testing, I can not publish OWA direct to the
internet (security policies etc) and need to have the VPN session
established.

Has anyone else seen this problem, or have any suggestions? If I can't fix
it then I will need to go back to a Blackberry, which I don't really want to
do!

Thanks

Hi,
You are using a more complex connection that most users. The decision to
use both SSL (to access Exchange) and the VPN is causing the problem. Even
the Blackberry only uses SSL.

I highly recommend that you consider switching to using the SSL connection
only. This will prevent this issue from occuring.

If you really want to use both, then contact HTC for assistance with this
issue. It would require a patch or a new rom to resolve.
