I've got an old computer (so old it's gotta run W95) with no USB, but I do
have a working Ethernet card for it. I'm wondering if Ethernet to USB is
possible. Every adapter I've ever seen is the other way around (USB to
Ethernet). Am I S.O.L.?

Not sure you are SOL, but I don't think you can go Ethernet to
USB. Can't see how that would fly. USB needs a controller...

Can't you get a PC Card to add USB to an existing laptop?

Then again, if you are running Win95, you are SOL anyway. You need at
least Win 98 to run USB at all (some say Win 95 OSR2 will support USB
somewhat, but good luck!).

No, it's not possible. USB is heavily, heavily tied up with Plug & Play
and the BIOS. It's much more than just an "interface". It might be
possible to make a very device and configuration specific Ethernet to
USB adapter, but it's not possible to make one that will work "generally".

Some print servers have ethernet and USB ports; see, for example:

I've never used one; I have no idea how well this would work, or even
whether you could convince Win95 to talk to a device attached to it. I
also suspect that other vendors make a similar box. But it will allow
you to go Ethernet => USB.
