I had MSN Desktop Search for some time. It worked ok (beside the large
memory consumption which is another story). I didn't use it for a month and
I wanted to use it again. Naturally I allowed the MSN Desktop Search to
update its index. But every couple of minutes this message popped out :
"Error while unpacking program, code 1.2. Please report to author". And I
had to press "OK" otherwise the index updating wouldn't resume. Other than
that the software worked ok. Now I installed the updated program and I still
have this problem. And it's impossible to press all the time that "OK"
button because the message appears almost every 2 minutes.

Just a stab in the dark but is it trying to index compressed files that are
password protected or encrypted?

Well, it's possible to have maybe, max 10 password protected archive (but I
think are even less) But That message popped out sometimes once a minute.
For an hour. But strangely, another time the program could scan for another
hour without that message. And I think I noticed other thing. I thought that
if I didn't press the "OK" button the scan would halt. But now I noticed
that sometimes if I let the error message on for a while (maybe 10 or 15
minutes) sometimes the scan would begin again But slower. Very strange. I
also closed all the programs and unnecessary services, and no difference. I
looked thru Google with this - "Error while unpacking program, code 1.2.
Please report to author" - and I found some entries but related to other
softwares.
