I have had this problem for over a month (it may have begun with the daylight
savings time switch). My computer will not synchronize the time and was 1
minuite and 37 seconds slower than the correct time. First error was
something about the RPC server, now it's just an unknown error. I have
Windows XP. I have Mcafee and Spybot. Dell has tried to help and now has
given up (after many hours and reformating my hard drive twice). Dell
finally had me download a non-windows time server, but that needed
instantaneous internet connection (my high-spped takes about a minute at
start-up) in order to update w/o an error. Dell also uninstalled and
reinstalled the Windows update about the change of daylight savings time. It
still is not synchronizing. Any help?

Mine broke with the new daylight time change.

There is a nice article on changing your Windows XP's time server to one
that works.
http://tf.nist.gov/service/pdf/win2000xp.pdf

Section 3 has a list of working time servers.
Instructions on applying the new server is in Section 5. Works for MCE
2005.

It is real simple, Double click the clock on the task bar, type the address
of the time server you want to use in the address box on the Internet time
tab.
