I had ActiveSync 4.1 running with Outlook 2003 under Windows XP with a
Treo 700 w. This morning I got the error "Synchronization cannot be
started because you are not able to log on to the network and access
information." After an afternoon of googling everything and trying all
the advice:
-- create a new *.pst file
-- delete mapi32.dll and force a reinstall (it didn't work as 2003
creates a new mapi32.dll automatically)
-- making sure I had all the latest Office and Windows updates (I did)
-- making sure I did not have Backup plug-in installed under Outlook
(I didn't)
-- upgrading to ActiveSync 4.5
Nothing has worked. I can't believe I literally have to uninstall
Outlook and reinstall it just to fix this error. Particularly when in
my google travels I find this:
Changes in ActiveSync 4.2 include the following updates:
* Microsoft Outlook improvements: Resolves issues relating to error
code 85010014
This is not the case with version 4.5 which I am now using. Any advice
much appreciated.
