I work for a company with many users on different ActiveSync devices. I have
encountered this error code on the Verizon Treo 700Ws, Motorola Q's and
various other Cinguar devices, etc. We have never been able to find a true
solution. I have spent hours on the phone with Verizon and Motorola and
still, no solution. They haven't even given me a true reason for receiving
the error. Some say it is a calendar issue, others say it's a server
setting...

Can anyone clarify what the error is actually referring to? And does anyone
have an actual solution that works? I would greatly appreciate it as it is
causing many delays for our employees. Thank you!

I appreciate your suggestion, but Chris admits on another site that he does
not have this error listed on his site.

From what I have read, it's a very inconsistant error. Some of found fixes
to their servers concerning the IIS or digital certificates, but those have
not solved our issues. As it stands, it seems to be related to a corrupted
file- either a contact, email, calendar appointment or task.

The only problem is there is no fix that I can find. When I have been on
the phone with Verizon, Cingular, Motorola or Microsoft, none of the techs
have ever heard of this error.

According to the knowledge base, this is your error:

Error: 86000108
Problem: "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the server." The device is
missing the root digital certificate that is installed on the server.. This
is known to have occured with a Verisign digital certificate.

Solution: Install the Verisign digital certificate on the Windows Mobile 5.0
device.

Method: Copy the certificate to the device. Then navigate to the file and
click on it to install the certificate.

I hope this helps.

Helio
