Hi,
i have an EVO N610c with originally 256MB RAM. It runs Windows XP SP2
with all the latest updates from MS. Erverthing worked fine.
Some weeks ago a replaced the 256 MB RAM module with 2 modules: 1 GB
and 512 MB. The modules have different manufacturers
In general everthing is still working fine. But when i attach my USB
HDD an i access any data on it, Windows freezes and only the power
button is reacting.
I already run memory test with no errors.
My first idea was that one of the RAM modules is broken. But i dropped
this idea, because everthing else is working fine.
Any idea?
Best regards,
JeanMarie

It still can be memory related. I would remove the 512MB first. If that
doesn't work, pull the 1GB out and replace it with the 512MB. I have
also seen the external HD gone bad cause this as well. Good luck!

Please log in for more thread options Thanks for the anwsers. I could not believe it, but reducing the RAM
to 1 GB brings my USB HDD correctly working again.
Hmm, how to proceed? What will i forgo: the usage of the USB HDD or
the 512 MB RAM? I have to check?
Best regards,
JeanMarie

As Quaoar already pointed out, the machine specs can only handle 1GB
max. Adding more than 1GB of RAM, the machine will have behavior
problems.
