I don't think this is right but my when my Treo connects via EVDO to sync
the connection remain up even after syncing. That I'm aware of there is
nothing else active using the connection. I would think there would be an
idle time disconnect but I can't find anything anywhere.

Any ideas?

Holding the Red Phone (disconnect) button on my phone (SP5) disconnects GPRS
and also locks the phone. This may do the trick. Generally in the UK we only
get charged for data used so keeping the wireless connnection open isnt a
problem

Data use here in the state, or at least with Verizon is unlimited. I'm more
concerned about battery usage. I could be just because I noticed it this
afternoon but it seemed to consume quite a bit of battery.

Well like I said on my new WM5 device holding the hang up button disconnects
the data connection, on my older WM2003 device holding the home button done
the job, there is bound to be a shortcut....finding it is another matter :-)
