http://geodata.gov has a comprehensive list of map servers. You can do
an advanced search of "geographic services" and your area of interest.
EPA also has a good collection of geodata accesible through web
services. check out their instructions here http://geodata.epa.gov/help.htm
Similarly a search for "web services" or "ArcIMS server" in your
country or region can help you find the servers.
