Does WM5 actually offer anything more useful than WM2003? CBMVic20 11-08-2005

I've been reading the various posts and reviews of WM5 and to-date, I
still can't find anything remotely useful about this upgrade other than
it supports USB 2.0 for faster data transfer and has WiFi support.

Can anyone summarise what the main selling points of this seemingly
pointless upgrade are please? What are the "real world" usability
improvements that are actually useful? By this, I mean is the OS
quicker, or offer better functionality? Has battery life been improved?
Is texting smarter and if so, how? Can you actually send files via BT
without having to install SmartExplorer?

EDGE support or .NET are of no interest, ditto a larger resolution
screen and more colours. WM2003 suits me just fine and can manage
everything I throw at it.

Am thinking of upgrading from a C500 to a C550 and was wondering
whether its worth holding on for the C600 but given that Orange have
crippled it by removing WiFi and that WM5 is installed, I don't see any
reason to wait. On a side note, is the C550 battery life comparable to
the C500?

Thanks in advance for any info/comments.

Regards,

Vic

the main reason to wait as far as i can see is the removal of the media
buttons, which take up most of the front top of the c550. the home back etc
buttons on the c550 are really too small. try one in a shop and see what i
mean.

Beware most of the reviews I've seen would class that as a downgrade.

Mainly on issues relating to speed (unless you're a fan of the
hour-glass....)
