Do you leave your laptop on all the time?

Do you shut it down when you go to sleep?

Btw, I have an Dell 19" LCD monitor that I am using for desktop - the
monitor comes with DVI (I belive it is DVI-D) cable as well as VGA
cable.

Is there a way I can use this LCD monitor for both my desktop and
think pad (when I am home), i.e by getting DVI to VGA cable to connect
with the thinkpad (instead of getting a dock) while leaving the VGA
connection to the desktop or vice versa? (Of course, I will turn off
one computer when using another.)

What's your opinion on the above scenarios? I'd just hate not to
utilize my 19" LCD monitor as much as possible. I plan to use my
thinkpad more than desktop when studying - I need to practise some QA
assurance tools ( I have some SW) + study for PMP cert exam. And
Oracle cert too.

In fact, I am thinking to put away my TV, DVD palyer, etc. and watch
movie (when I do) on my desktop. I should play music more too w/ my
desktop. I have subwoofer though old - I bought it with my dell system
in late 2001.

Talking about subwoofer, I have another set. Is it possible to disable
the speakers in my thinkpad and instead connect my thinkpad to that
subwoofer and speakers set? I don't know how old this subwoofer is. I
don't know much about these components.

Sorry about so many questions; the main qs are

- Do you leave your laptop on all the time?
- Do you shut it down when you go to sleep?
- about using my 19" Dell 1905FP LCD monitor with both desktop and
thinkpad.

Thanks.

get a dvi to vga adaptor

the lcd should have an input select button so you might not have to turn one
off.

I leave my laptop off most of the time. I prefer to use a real
computer when I can, one with a full-sized keyboard and components
that don't take a rocket scientist to replace. I don't leave it on
all the time either; we have enough coal polution without people
acting stupid.

I got the habit of leaving it on when I was going to school and doing
homework (programming) day/night/morning/ as the assignment is due. I
should leave it off. when not in use.

I hate the keyboard on laptops; I will use a wireless keyboard with my
laptop just as I am doing right now w/ the laptop that's not mine.
With this Gateway Tablet PC, the keyboard (of the laptop)
malfunctions all the time anyway.I have a slim logitech keyboard
(that I just place on top of the laptop keyborad - probbaly not a
good idea? ) - and mouse set.

A couple of them yes.

No.

It depends if your speakers require different cables for a whole bunch
of speakers, like an advanced soundcard has. Otherwise just get a plug
that fits in your laptop connector for headphones, and in the other
end fits with your subwoofer/speaker.

The laptops internal speakers automatically disables when there is a
plug in the headphone connector.
