an acer laptop with neomagic video card. > are there drivers for this
video card available? Yes! Get them from ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/XBF
They are in binary format (rpm and tgz) An unaccelerated X server can
be obtained from http://www.mnsinc.com/js/Neomagic.html The server
from the RedHat ftp site is better as it is accelerated. A commercial
server is available from Xig http://www.xig.com Its about $200. You
might be interested in the Linux on Laptops page. It has links to
various pages describing Linux setup on various laptops (including
those from Acer). http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/kharker/linux-laptop/ Nick -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion

XBF-neomagic-libc5-1.0.0-1.i386.rpm You need only one of these
depending on the version of your libraries. The tgz files have .tgz at
the end instead of .rpm I am not sure if these files have been
uploaded onto the mirrors. In any case, the RedHat mirror listing is
at http://www.redhat.com/mirrors.html All the best! Nick -----==

Hi - we just configured some DELL Latitude Cpi laptops

display
works beautifully at 1024X768 (8 and 16 bit color).
see:
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/XBF/
Please read the README.neomagic - in particular it says:
Tested Laptops
* Actebis TN559Pro
* CTX EzBook 77X series
* Compaq Presario 1220, 1610 & 1611
* Dell Inspiron 3000 & 3200
* Dell Latitude CP, CPi, LM & XPi
* Digital VP HiNote 720
* Gateway 2000 Solo2300XL
* HP Omnibook 800, 4100 & Sojourn

CAUTION: Running this server on untested laptops poses a potential
risk
of damaging your laptops flat panel display. You assume all risks in
using this X server on untested laptops, however, if you successfully
run this server on a laptop not listed here, we would like to hear
from
you. Please e-mail your laptop make and model to us at

Since I am not a Linux expert, make sure that the rpm returns from
Google refer to your particular Linux distro. I am not sure that my
Mandriva (Mandrake) sources will work on your distro.
