I have now fixed the problem with my laptop video drivers. But last
night I tried connecting it up to a TV. I used the s-video connection
with a scart adaptor. I could get a picture, but it was in black and
white. What am I doing wrong? Or is it that the scart adaptor is
possibly duff? It is a Dell Latitude C640 with a ATI Radeon 7500 card.
Also anyone know where I can get the modem driver for it? I just would
like my hardware manger to show no question marks!

Wrong TV standard selected. From your use of a "SCART" cable you would
appear to be in a PAL or SECAM market. Most drivers are developed by
North American companies and will default to NTSC.

Is your TV able to accept an s-video signal through its SCART connector, or
only composite video? If the latter, it seems possible that only the
luminance component of the s-video signal - and not the chroma - is getting
through.

See

Google on s-video for a more detailed explanation.

Hi I have had a look at the link posted by Roger, my S-Video connector
is different to the one shown. It has 7 sockets and a square locator
socket. I did a google and found this page
http://www.svideo-rca.com/gone.htm it shows the type of socket I have.
(the 7 pin one!) The cable I have has only the 4 pin plug. So maybe I
should search eBay, or visit Maplins or PC World. I live in ROI so
limited PC componant shops)
Oh well back to the drawing board!

You will probably find that the 4 pin plug fits the 7 pin socket. The
socket is usually designed to accept either. 2 of the spare pins are used
to switch the output into Composite video which is then output on the
remaining pin.
