When I hit the live TV, as the box comes up to show the program, first I see
very quickly, the words "DISK ERROR" in the blue box and then I get the
standard message That the Tuner is not available and to restart media center.
Also, programs will not automatically record for the same reason.

I've had the Tuner Not Available thing happen before, but never preceeded by
this disk error message and usually it would repair by restarting. Not so
today.

I read over some previous messages and looked at the task window after I got
the message to see if anything was running in the background. No.

As far as things that are different as opposed to the last year and a half
we've had the computer.
1. I just installed AOL software for a free Trial
2. My son has been using Movie Maker (however, he's been using it over the
past few weeks and no problems.
3. My internet provider (cable) has been having problems, so the guy was out
here today messing with stuff to fix it.

Any ideas on where to go?

I'm addicted to Media Center and suffering withdrawal....

Jo

Have you tried simply setting up your tv signal again... and re-scanning for
channels?

I would definitely consider getting some disk backup software, saving a
clone of your disk to a new disk, and using the new disk as your future
drive...

I might be wrong, but I suspect that your hard drive is fading away.

It almost sounds like there's an issue with you MPEG Decoder. You will have
to look into your even logs to see what else MCE is writing to it. That might
give you a better idea of what may be going wrong.

I remember having this issue once in a while when I used to have MCE 2004 or
even 2002. Never had this problem with 2005 -- I'm assuming you're on 2005.
You may also have to reinstall, or update your tuner driver. Finally if none
of that works, I would try to restore my PC to the point before installing
AOL. (Finally, as a personal thing, I would *always* refrain from installing
AOL :-))
