Hi All,
Can anyone tell me, is there any difference between notebook computer,
and laptop computer? What are the major differences between them, so,
we cannot use a notebook computer on the lap and it needs a flat
surface?
Thanks for your advice, Sandy.

The dictionary says a notebook is smaller than a laptop. IMO, people who
have been in the computer game for 10-15 years+ call them laptops out of
habit. All new portable computers are considered "notebooks," however the
old-timers call them "laptops." I own a notebook, but I call it a laptop.

That's only my opinion though, here's some good info:

All computers should be placed on a flat surface, whether it's for
stability (desktop) or cooling (laptop/notebook).

I have got a Vaio FX machine and it does not look remotely like a "book" as
it's plainly far bigger than most books (apart from perhaps a world atlas).

My partner has a Vaio TX, and it certainly *does* look like a book.

Well, as example: The ASUS W1Vc mentioned clearly in its manual that you should
NOT put it on your lap or any other body parts, since it can get quite warm.
Therefor it would be a bit silly to keep
naming it a laptop, hence the switch to 'notebook', I guess... ;-)

Evert
