I have been trying to install Activesync 4.1 on an otherwise perfectly
functioning Windows XP Pro machine. I have never had an Installshield problem
in the install process for any other app. But when I try to install
Activesync, I get the following dialog box that just lets me hit OK then
closes out ... thus, Activesync installation does not happen. I'm totally
stumped on how to solve this. InstallShield support (from Macrovision?) seems
non-existent. I can't find a KB article on this. Any help out there would be
much appreciated.

Thanks!

Blue bar title of box: InstallShield

Command line parameters:
/L language ID
/S Hide initialization dialog. For silent mode use: /S/v/qn
/V parameters to MsiExec.exe
/UA<url to InstMsiA.exe>
/UW<url to InstMsiW.exe>
/UM<url to msi package>

Are you installing ActiveSync by clicking Run/Open, or saving then
running?

Is Windows Update up to date, ie no critical or suggested patches not
installed? The latest updates install Microsoft Installer 3.1 - which
may solve the problem.

David,

Did you ever get a response on this one?

I have a IBM Thinkpad T41, XPSP2, fully functional with admin rights, never
had a problem previously. Up to date with all ptaches and windows updates.
Tried the downoaded version from microsoft and the version on the CD, tried
to install in Safe mode, disbaled antivirus and tried.

Nothing doing here and have exactly the same error message as you.
