 On a Windows 2000 SP4 pc that has ActiveSync 3.8 when a PocketPC is
connect to the computer it detects the new device and windows shows new
hardware found message and automatically installs the drivers.
But AtctiveSync briefly shows connected and then shows connecting.

What settings on the PocketPC or PC that need to be made to allow the
two devices to connect?

 Try performing a soft reset on the device. Also are you running any
firewall software?

I have a firewall and allowed activesync permissions. However there is
no option to synchonise any outlook items. I have checked tools options
but there is no configuration choices for outlook.

It worked after I disconnected the PocketPC and reconnected it again to
the PC it now has the connection to the main pc.
