Desktop search preview pane international character bug Jonne70 05-17-2005

If a filename or path to a filename contain for any of the Swedish/Finnish
characters ä or ö, the preview doesn't work for pictures, and any links to
music files do not work.

For example, when clicking on a music file in the Windows Desktop Search
Results window, the preview pane suggests "Other music in this folder". If
the path or filename is c:\documents and settings\jörgen\my music, the
preview pane url would be c:\documents and settings\jrgen\my music without
the ö, and the link doesn't work.

The same thing goes for pictures, no picture previews are shown if the path
or filename contain one of these characters.

Otherwise, the final version of desktop search seem to be a nice improvement
over the beta. Still however music files placed by theBearShare download
program in My Music folder won't get indexed at all, until you copy the file
manually - then the copy gets indexed, another oddity of desktop search.

Thanks for your comments. The issue with the preview pane is a known issue
and will be fixed in the next release.

I assume you're copying the bear share files in the same directory?

Thank you Brandon for your answer, yes, an mp3 files get indexed only after
you make a copy into the same directory off it when downloaded by BearShare.
I first tried to renaming, but that didn't make desktop search notice the
file either, only copying the file (and deleting the orginal) seem to work.
Maybe this could be given some investigation.

We will investigate that problem, though we have not seen it before. Thanks
for your feedback.
