Windows XP the screen is blank wallpaper. I've done a search here and
someone said to type explorer in the 'new task' window. Did that. Got some
improvement. The icons are there, however, they ok for 5 seconds and they
taskbar and icons are gone. they stay gone for about 5 seconds and the same
thing happens. there is access to some programs, but slow in opening. I
can't get to 'systems' on the all programs screen, before it is gone.

Is there any help out there?

This is an update on the problem mentioned below. I log-on to nothing but
wallpaper. If I control+alt+delete and pick explorer I get the desktop back.
but only for a few seconds and it's gone again to come back for a few
seconds again. I continues that way. i can open programs and they run
normally. The taskbar is in sync with the icons. It's very distracting.
How can I stop this?

I hope some good soul out there has a solution to this. Thanks in advance.

If so, that soul is more likely to be in a Windows or Windows Explorer
newsgroup, not a Media Center newsgroup.
