Hi Colin,
The File Synchronization feature you are looking for is not provided on the
Smartphone edition of Windows Mobile 5.0. Therefore you will not be able to
synchronize but you should be able to copy/paste using the "Explore" option
available in ActiveSync when the device is connected to the computer. You
might find the following url useful to understand the difference between
Pocket PC's and Smartphone's -

The reference in the help file is for Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone edition
of Windows Mobile. FYI - This particular feature is available in smart
phones running on Windows Mobile 6.0.
