 I cannot change my desktop background. When I click start,control
panel,appearances and themes,change desktop background, all of the choices
for wallpaper are locked. I cannot even scroll down the choices of
wallpapers. It's all locked. The only thing I can change is the color of the
desktop. Please help. I have never had this happen before. Thank you.

You have the infamous registry entry that locks the desktop. Put there by a
spyware program.

Start > Run. Type regedit. click OK.


HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Look in the right pane for a value called Wallpaper. If it exists, right
click it and select Delete.

It has an immediate effect. You can check Display properties as soon as you
delete the value wallpaper. No need to reboot.
