Unfortunately my experience is that MSN Desktop Search will really slow down
your machine. I have an Athlon XP 1900+ at home with 768 MB but it really
slows down the system. I do have a large index of emails (50,000 +
messages). For that machine I chose to use Google Desktop Search after much
comparison.
My computer at work has a 2.4 GHz Celeron and it works OK with MSN. The
initial indexing is slow for 160,000 items but response time is acceptable.
I'm getting a new computer next week with Intel Pentium 630 so that should
speed it up a bit.
