Only ways I know are as follows:
(1) Right-click sys tray icon and use INDEX NOW when you need it. Note
this will be at high priority and slow other jobs down.
(2) When you don't need it then right click sys tray ison and exit.
Note that WDS will need to relaunch when you want to do a search.
Else try another desktop searcher: some like Copernic but I like Yahoo.
