We are currently looking into purchasing laptops for our district. We
are currently using Dell computers and were set to purchase Dell D830
laptops. However, we have contacted HP and they gave us a comparable
model 8510P. Can someone give us some insight as to which way to
lead ? We are pleased with Dell and with current AMD processor
laptops, but were looking at Intel/Dell laptops and also look at HP
with Intel. Thanks.

You are likely going to have to accept the low bid for a given
performance level.

OTOH, neither Dell nor HP are acceptable in a work or student
environment; both are simply too fragile.

Perhaps Toshiba. My response is moot, since you will have to accept the
low bid. Your best action is to construct the bid so that instant
service is a very high priority in terms of time and cost.

Thanks for the response. Fortunately we did not have to go into a bid
process, but we did have only HP and Dell to choose from as state
purchasing rules state. We are a Dell shop, but HP got right back to
us with their offer and was lower than Dell. Dell has yet to counter
which tells me something about Dell.
