Hi, i hope someone can help. I have a Dell E1505 and am currently on my
4th battery!!! They just don't last very long. After a month they will
only stay charged for 10 minutes and then not at all. I get nowhere at
with Dell.
Thanks:(

What did Dell say when after only one month's use (within
the warranty period) the first battery failed to hold a charge?

Well the only thing in common is heat and/or 500 recharges. And the
latter is like almost impossible in a month time. The only other thing
is the laptop is draining the battery even when it is powered down. This
Gateway drains about 2% per day if I leave the battery in the laptop. So
it sounds like I would have to recharge it about every 2 months if I
leave it in the laptop without AC power. If I pull it out, about once a
year would probably be okay.
When you run a laptop, it gets hot normally. And Li-Ion batteries hate
heat per sa. So even if it isn't being charged or drained, the heat
itself from the laptop is damaging it. So a lot of us will remove the
battery when we don't need it. This will make the battery last a very
longtime. Some of us has have Li-Ion batteries last 10 or more years by
practicing this. Although I have to admit, if you just get 5 years on a
Li-Ion battery... you are doing just fine.
If you are using battery power everyday and drain the battery every
single day. You are said to get about 500 recharges. So that sounds like
you should get like a year and a half. Well from my experience, it could
be like you get about 6 months worth. Like about 180 recharges. And to
be frank, heavy use of a Li-Ion battery and you only get 180 recharges
isn't all that bad if you ask me.

Hi Bill,
Thank you soooooooooooo much for all the advice. I will remove the
battery when not needed to see if that helps. It does get very very hot
sometimes so that makes sence. I will let you know how it goes. Again,
thank you very much. You said you have a Gateway? Are you very happy
with it?
