Hi -

I have a Dell D610 with an ATI Mobility X300 video card that is acting
up. The basic issue is that my resolution was 1024 x 768, but it
appears fuzzy. With Dell Tech support I reinstalled the driver for the
X300 card. Upon restart I receive an error message stating "This
message is to inform you that a video resolution lower than 1400 x 1050
was requested. Resolution changes can be requested by the user, an
application (i.e. a game), or the operating system. Resolution
settings lower than 1400 x 1050 could result in a "fuzzy" looking
display. The LCD panel on your computer appears best at resolution
setting 1400 x 1050"

Basically the only way I can see without it being fuzzy is a high
resolution of 1400 x 1050. I'd like to use 1024 x 768, but this
setting always is fuzzy.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

LCDs have fixed pixels. As a result, when you lower the resolution,
software interpolation occurs.

If you need larger text, rather than lower the screen resolution
increase the default font size in the 'Display' applet.

Thanks for the help. That does help some. The mystery to me though is
that I have a second D610 where the resolution is set to 1024 x 768 and
it appears fine without being fuzzy. Can't figure out why one computer
will do it but the other won't...

Thanks!

The difference might be in the display setting. You may have
'ClearType' turned on one and not the other. Also the 'XP' theme has
some smoothing themes that 'Classic' doesn't'.

Are you sure they are the exact same model? Many of these
were available with several different screen options.
