I have a few probably simple questions relating to the Dell Axim x51v
running Windows Mobile 5.0

1. When I download mp3 files directly from the web (not via Activesync)
to my Axim, they go to My Documents underneath all the existing folders
(each file practically forming a folder by itself). They do not go to
My Music folder or to Windows Media Library and consequently they are
difficult to sort by artist, album, ...etc, or be assigned to
playlists, and have to be played manually one file at a time. Tapping
on the file's name gives you the option of renaming it but not of
moving it. Is there a way around this?

2. New categories can be created and assigned to contacts,
appointments, or tasks, but is there a way to delete those new
categories or edit them if one decides that a new description is
better?

3. When a picture is assigned to a contact, it seems that one has the
option of changing the picture, but not of disposing of a picture for
that contact altogether, or am I mistaken?

4. Finally, the solid green light that should show when the device is
on does not show any longer. I get the amber light when the device is
charging and the solid green light when the battery is fully charged,
but once I disconnect the device from the external power outlet, the
light disappears.

I would appreciate your help immensely.

Hi,

#1 Tap & hold the stylus on the file and you will get options to Cut/Copy
it, then browse to the directory you want to place it in and tap & hold
again in the empty area, it will give you the option to paste.

#2 There is no way to edit the categories that exist (on device or on the
desktop). You will need to create a new category and assign it to the
relevant contacts and remove the old assigned category. If you want to
apply this change to many contacts, then apply the changes via the desktop.
In Outlook, sort the view by Categories and select all the contacts in the
Category you wish to change. Create a new one and assign and remove the old
one.

#3 Open the contact whose picture you want to remove under the edit mode.
Then tap Menu -> Remove Picture.

#4 I don't have a Dell Axim x51v to confirm but I don't think it will
display green throughout when your device is turned on. Usually the LED
status shows the charge status of the battery when connected and will blink
blue and green if bluetooth\wireless is on.

Thank you. Everything works out perfectly, except that I still cannot
figure out how to remove a category.

Also would you, or any nember of the group, be able to point me toward
the best Java or JVM to download onto mobile devices running Windows
Mobile 5.0, and the same for a Flash plug-in.

Best regards

Hi,

To remove a Category... (Assuming you want to remove it from more then one
contact having the same category)

1. Open Outlook and goto Calendar.
2. Right-click the Calendar folder and create a new folder of Calendar
Type.
3. Click View -> Arrange by -> Current View -> By Category (This will list
all your appointments category wise)
4. Browse and select the contacts whose category you wish to remove.
5. After selecting, right-click and click Categories.
6. Deselect the Category and apply a new one (if you want to). Once done,
if the Category is not going to be used, you can remove it from the Master
Category list.

About Flash, although Macromedia's website doesn't list the player as
compatible with WM 5.0, I have been using it without any issues.
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashplayer/pocketpc/2002.html

You can try installing the player.

In order to have the ability to delete categories, you will need to purchase
or find a program that can do it.

I use a commercial PIM called PocketInformant 4.x. It has full edit control
over the categories as well as letting you set category icons and colors.

Agenda Fusion 7.x is another popular PIM. I don't know if it had edit
control over the categories but I would assume so since it is the number 2
PIM on the market.

You may be able to find a free program that does this at one of the sites
below...

http://www.freewareppc.com/
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/

or a cheap program from one of these sites...
