Well usually there is Fn key combo which enables, disables, and share the
video. Another way is to go into Display properties. Another way is most
video card drivers has Display properties too which you can change this. Do
you plug the video cable while the laptop is on or off? And that what you
call second screen is called extended desktop in the display properties.
