XPpro SPII desktop
XPhome SPII lappy
Axim X51v (mobile 5)

Synced (AS4.1) Axim to desktop

Ended up with a mess in contacts (double/triple entries, items in "contacts"
v "address book", etc)

Long story short, can't figure out how to clean out the mess on Axim and
start over (short of total wipe).
Need to remove contacts (all of them in one fell swoop, not one by one) on
Axim and resync to the now cleaned up desktop.
I'm sure I'm missing the obvious but damned if I can find it.
Question is.....how do I remove "contacts" from Axim......file to delete? -
option in AS?
TIA

Hi,

If a partnership exists and you delete the Contacts from the mobile device,
it erase from Outlook as well. If you have a set of Contacts that is clean
on the desktop, suggest that before syncing your device create a new
Contacts folder in Outlook and select all contacts from the default folder
(press Ctrl + a), drag and drop the selection into the new folder.

Upon sync, since no contacts are available in the default folder, Contacts
on your device will be erased. Now repeat the action and move the contacts
from the new folder into the default folder and ActiveSync will sync the new
set of contacts to your device.

Raj;

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Didn't think of creating a clean default contacts folder as I was expecting
that upon sync the revisions made to desktop would overwrite the PPC (which
didn't happen then, but does now).

Problem solved in a "backdoor" way <g>.
Tired of fooling with it, frustrated, and after rumaging around on the
Aximsite - it appeared that a BIOS flash was in order.
Did that in the interim and it did, indeed, fix most, if not all, of what
ailed the X51v <s>.

As an unintended (but welcomed!) by product of the flash......all PIM data
was removed in one fell swoop. A new sync then published the "clean" version
from DT to PPC. Changes made to desktop contact list are now reflected on
PPC after sync and all is right with the world.

Thanks again though for your reply - another tidbit of wisdom to add to the
memory bank and one which I'm sure will help others searching here for the
solution.

It's scary, but do it the other way round...

backup your contacts on the desktop (personally I would both backup and
export them)

Assure that your rules are set to replace on the device if...

Delete all contacts _from outlook on the desktop_

Sync your device

All contacts should be gone from the ppc as well

Restore contacts to the desktop's outlook

Resync your device

Device and Outlook should be the same
